This mod should be compatible with anything that doesn't change the fame quirk unlocking system. However, this may or may not be foolproof, so if you see that the perks still go through, please let me know (I can only test so much!). This should mean that the perk is never allowed to perform the dice roll. So I set each perk's "progress" attribute to 0, which according to the documentation affects at what state the perk is at before it is called for the dice roll. Update: Despite that, I found that in some cases the perk would still go through.
The benefit to me doing it this way is that should you change your mind and want to add a quirk that you have essentially "blocked" via this mod, you can still do it via the in-game cheats and the quirk will function exactly as it's supposed to. This should ensure that the game should fail the dice roll any time it wants to automatically add the quirk. What I've done is set any available base_chance values to 0, multipliers to 0, and the thresholds to 999. Some quirks also have a base_chance value which I assume gives them a more likely chance to be unlocked. The dice roll is then multiplied by an arbitrary multiplier value, which is then compared to an arbitrary threshold value which will determine if the unlocking succeeded or failed. Yes, that means I more or less don't fully understand how exactly my mod works, but I know that it works as I intend (just like when I program.)īy default, once you have an open slot the game begins to monitor your sims' actions and roll the dice as to whether or not they get quirks if they perform the relevant triggering action (like Vain using the mirror, Refined Palette eating excellent food, etc).
I can only explain things to the best of my knowledge. Couple that with the fact that they're luck based- testing this mod wasn't simple. For the record, the fame quirks are pretty much undocumented and unintuitive to figure out how they tick.
